A Chinese-language translation of Mendelian Randomization: Methods for Causal Inference Using Genetic Variants, is now available for purchase in mainland China. The book, authored by Stephen Burgess, Programme Leader within the Causal Mechanisms research theme in the MRC Biostatistics Unit, and Simon G. Thompson, aims to give epidemiologists, statisticians, geneticists, and bioinformaticians the foundation to understand how to use genetic variants as instrumental variables in observational data.

Lanlan Chen, Doctor from the First Hospital of Jilin University and leader of the translation team, said: “Mendelian randomization is a “clever” design to perform causal inference, which has attracted numerous Chinese medical researchers but there is a lack of authorative and efficient ways for them to study it systematically. This Chinese translation copy will largely help Chinese medical researchers understand this method and conduct it in a right way, and lead to more high-quality publications from China.”
